The most valuable professional development experiences share a common characteristic: intimacy. The conference with 5,000 attendees and a keynote speaker you'll never meet is a very different experience from a dinner with 20 people where the speaker sits at your table and answers your specific questions. The Colosseum's speaker series is built around the second model.
The Format
Each event in our speaker series follows a consistent structure: a 45-minute fireside conversation between the speaker and a moderator (typically a member with relevant expertise), followed by a 30-minute structured Q&A, followed by a 60-minute member dinner where speakers remain accessible. The total event runs approximately 2.5 hours. Attendance is capped at 40 members.
This format is deliberate. The fireside conversation extracts insights that a prepared keynote would not — the speaker is responding in real time, revealing their actual thinking rather than their polished narrative. The structured Q&A ensures that the most important questions get asked. The dinner creates the conditions for the serendipitous conversations that often produce the most value.
Past and Upcoming Speakers
Our speaker roster has included a Series C SaaS founder who scaled to $50M ARR without venture capital, a Charleston-based real estate developer who built a $400M portfolio over 15 years, a nationally recognized executive coach who works with Fortune 500 CEOs, and an Olympic athlete turned entrepreneur who built a performance brand from scratch. Upcoming speakers include a venture capitalist focused on Southeast markets and a founder who successfully exited two companies before 40.
